MICH0046 - Storm Karelian Wall / Vyborg-Petrozavodsk operation 10.06-09.08.1944

The final operation of the Battle of Leningrad was conducted by the troops of the right wing of Leningrad Front and the left wing of the Karelian Front with the assistance of the Baltic Fleet and Ladoga and Onega military flotillas. The Vyborg and Svirsk-Petrozavodsk front-wide offensive operations were lasted 61 days of offensive fights. As a result of the bitter fight, the Red Army liberated Karelia and the northern areas of the Leningrad region and defeated the Finnish Army. The city of Vyborg was taken by assault. It became part of the Russian territory. Success of the Soviet troops radically changed the situation in the northern part of the Soviet-German Front and predetermined the withdrawal of Finland from the war.
