MICH0034 - The battle of Stalingrad/17.07-18.11.1942

The Battle of Stalingrad went down in history as the Wehrmacht's first complete and obvious defeat. Along with the failure of the German politico-military strategy, the battle exposed principal deficiencies of the German army level command and control, i.e. sticking to a number of well-proven command and control techniques, a tend to underestimate the enemy and overestimate themselves. For the very first time in World War II, German troops were not just repulsed, rather surrounded, defeated, taken prisoner of war and humiliated. This publication sheds some light on the defensive phase of the Battle of Stalingrad from July 17th to November 18th, 1942. The statistics data derived from archives has been 'reinforced' with photographs, diagrams and color drawings. This issue comprises upwards of 102 photographs, 6 diagrams and 12 color illustrations.
